Moving from U.S. to Puerto Rico with a stepchild

Hi everyone.  Does anyone on here have experience on moving from the U.S. to Puerto Rico with a stepchild?  I have a 14-year old stepdaughter and am looking at a possible job in Mayaguez.  Her biological father has given verbal consent for us to move, but I'm looking for what needs to be done legally to make sure it's all done properly.  Is moving to Puerto Rico in this regard the same as moving within the U.S.?

dalupus

Puerto Rico is the US.

Anywhere you go in the US you should file paperwork with the courts where he gives you legal custody of the child but I doubt it will ever come up personally.

Thank you, dalupus...I guess that's the essence of my question.  Does moving to PR work the same way as moving anywhere else in the U.S. (especially as it regards child custody)?

NomadLawyer

Yes, moving to PR is the same as moving to Montana.
