Burglars in Al-Azaiba

Post new topic

Umhamzah

Last month, our house located in Al Azaiba was robbed while we were sleeping! The guy managed to take cash money from my husband's wallet and a cell phone.
We filed the case but the Police couldnt do anything about it since there was no enough evidence. Though, calls from the phone were tracked and were able to get the numbers.
2 weeks ago, we were away on vacation and our house was robbed again!! We were lucky because we had installed an alarm system earlier and he didnt go in this time. Nothing was filed because he didnt go in or steal anything.
My question is...is it reasonable that a house is robbed twice a month? Does this make sense?
I am really surprised that this is happening in Oman nowadays. It used to be very safe in here. Will the Police be doing about that? Arent there any police cars moving around?
Did anyone face this?

Hi Umamzah,
I know how you feel! It happened to us a couple of months ago, but in Mauritius, they came in and stole all valuables from us including computers etc.
I've moved your topic to Oman's forum for a better visibility.
At least, you (as us) were not hurt and that's the most important thing!
Keep strength.

Dear Umhamzah,

If the thief stole your mobile most definitely an easy case that Royal Oman police can handle.

Here there is a tracking system. This is how it worksÂ…. You have to give Royal Oman police the invoice of the mobile that you have purchased.

With that mobile serial number whichever the sim (Hyak or nawaras probably the thief would have changed the sim) where ever the user is. One of my friend had the same situation and able to put the thief behind bars.

But you cannot expect instant results from ROP. For future safe set a hidden camera.

Good luck.

Dear friend,

Yours is not the only case with robbery, now the rate of crime is alarmingly increasing. What i would advise you is to keep a healthy relationship between your neighbours ( which to my opinion is not found here). Myself was pick pocketed twice and also have seen my worker being beaten brutally before being robbed. It would be better if you install a very good anti theft system at home and also it would better if you could ask some of your friend or relatives to come and stay at your house if you are leaving for a long vacation.

with prayers

am an Omani, and i am soo sad to hear about your story. and yes you are right, unfortunately the rate of robbories and crimes are increasing, however the government is doing its best to fight it back.
for your own safety, always (24/7) keep ur house locked and have security system on. moreover, nowadays there are some stranger (99% are not omani) beg for money, and they come to check ur house. so NEVER open to any strangers.
and i totally agree with Madhu, try to always have healthy relationships with ur neighbours..

all the best, and god bless you all

Theft is quite common in Muscat, my house has been robbed a few times in al Khuwair and the pathetic police instead of looking for the robbers they told me to keep things of value in the bank, I think the police are part of the robbers trying to see what people are getting upto it there houses.
