Marmaris - is it illegal to do Barbecue ??

Hi!

I'm living in Marmaris and was thinking of having a barbecue with my friends at home.聽 We have a grassy area around our apartments but I'm not sure how our neighbours would feel so I had the idea of cooking with a disposable on our balcony.聽 But someone has told me that's illegal.聽 I know there are fire risks but I'm not daft so I would be careful.聽 It's only really if it's illegal that I won't do it.聽 Does anyone know if that's the case?聽

Hi,

It is not illegal but you need to be careful of the fire as you are aware and pls do not forget that your neighbours may get disturbed about the smell. In order not to cause any misunderstandings etc, you may wish to give a plate of what you cooked to them- it is polite and may stop their complaint before it starts- Electrical ones would cause less smell and much easier cooking.

Pls do not try to do it in big cities like Istanbul / Izmir. I do not think that it will be a big problem in Marmaris. There is a saying in Turkish that "whatever is cooked at the neighbour will arrive to us" meaning that they might expect politeness rather than what is cooked.
