Just a quick thought from someone in the medical field.  Recently (2015), in a number of western countries, the "annual health check" has been shown repeatedly to NOT improve the health of people, or to help with the prevention of illness. So much so that in some countries they have actually stopped paying for annual checks in people.

I know that in VN, people that are working are required by the government to have one every year.  As someone who has been doing these exams for a few years now, I have come to the conclusion that they are really only about the transfer of money from the companies that the employees work for, into the private medical clinics around. 

So if you're company is paying for it, go for it!  However, if you will be footing the bill, it's not necessary, and will just put a dent in your pocketbook.

Thanks for that info....but I guess you'd still need one if you were going to get medical insurance?  any ideas re. costs for one year medical cover?

I really have no idea about prices of insurance here, but you're talking for a young person?  If so, than probably on the order of several hundred dollars yearly I imagine.
