Shipping stuff from Ireland to Tripoli

Parents_

Hi members,
Any experience of shipping stuff to Tripoli please?. We have been told things easy can be lost except sending by DHL or similar curriers which are expensive. Is there a reliable currier with reasonable rates? Your advice is highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot,

depends what you wanna ship. Look at Aramex's Shop and Ship, or you may need to ship it as cargo and then pay a libyan company to deal with customs...etc you may also consider sharinh a container if you know someone willing.

As far as losing stuff, just ship and see. I havnt been here for long but am paranoid about it.

Add at least 300-400 for custom's agency if you are shipping by airline. There can be some problems if you are shipping books, CD's, etc. Legally they had to be certified but I think nobody gives a damn now. Abyway, it seems that sometimes they use this law to get some more money for clearance. We sent 80 kilos by airline, everything came but they checked it very thoroughly.

No need to send with courier, just sent as air freight, not ocean freight.

If your company has a good clearing agent, he will get the shipment cleared quickly and the cost should be for the company account (technically) if you are moving to Libya.

Thanks all!
- Wysoki! how much you paid for 80 kgm.
We have 80kgm mainly our used books and CDs.
For example if we are coming with Alitalia airlines, we just use their cargo service? this is what you meant?
Thanks a lot,

Thanks Abdul,
I called the company but they do for business only not individuals. Or an individual can rent a container which is big as I have only about 80kgm. Through Aramex/DHL, is a bit expensive and it doesnÂ’t include clearance expenses.
cheers,

No taxes neither customs clearance fee is payable for personal belonging This is for sure i had brought back with me about 500kg .  just declare them as personal belongings in the currier docs and at the point of clearance.
