PhD and PR

What are the chances of immigrating to NZ if i do a PhD in NZ(GIS/Geography) ? I already have a masters degree in geography from the USA. the point system under the skilled migrant category seems a bit complicated.聽 i am a 33 year old indian citizen with about 4 years work experience in GIS(2 years in USA)

getting a PhD will not help you get Residence in New Zealand beyond what a Masters will do..you will need to get a Skilled job offer to apply for Residence as a skilled migrant here

Best is to get advice from an NZ immigration attorney. Odds are you may be able to get more then 130 points and qualified to come on work to residence visa. But getting a job these days is tricky business in NZ.
