A great white shark was caught in he Danang area a a couple of years ago, quite possibly the first ever recorded gteat whote shark in Vietnam. The shark nbbled a swimmer or two, but fortunately no deaths were rdported. photos were published in Thanh Nien newspaper, which you can read in English on line.

Obviously the South China Sea is a different area compared to the beaches in the great southern land - so what sea critters should one look out for while enjoying the beaches around the Da Nang area?

Just about all the large sea creatures have been consumed. A long time ago.
Folks here will eat any and everything.
Just wait until you see the aerated tanks full of stonefish in a Da Nang seafood restaurant.
Your greater concern should be the fecal bits and the medical waste that wash up onshore.

The jungle and countryside is more a place for concern.
There's a green bamboo snake the war vets called a 'two step'.
There's Dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis.
Not to mention the hordes of 'homeless' dogs that are rabid.



Da Nang traffic is pleasant,but zebra crossings here mean 'speed up'.

Didn't even ask the question and was pretty much only worried about sharks. Medical waste ? like what?

Snakes, yikes. Don't even do jungle tours. You should see the monsters in plexiglass cages at the Reptile House  Bronx Zoo in NYC. Even been a few escapes. Must be bored They always come back for chow not such a problem as the jungle.
