Vocabulary
Ad: name

ad-谋n: your name (Sin.)
ad-谋n谋z: your name (Pl. and Frm. Sin.)
ne: what
ad谋n ne?: what's your name?
ad谋n谋z ne: whats your name? (Pl. and Frm. Sin.)
ben: I
ben-im: my
sen: you (Sin.)
sen-in: your
siz: you (Pl. and Frm. Sin.)
siz-in: your
memnun: glad
ol- : to be
memnun oldum: nice to meet you, glad to meet you
affedersiniz: excuse me
My name is Ay艧e
Benim Ad谋m Ay艧e = My name is Ay艧e.
Ad谋m Ay艧e= My name is Ay艧e
You can say "benim ad谋m" or only "ad谋m". You don't have to use "benim" if you don't want to emphasize that the name is yours. Because the ending "-谋m" we added to "ad" noun makes it already "my name". It's possesive.
What is your name?
Ad谋n ne? (What's your name? , informal)
Senin ad谋n ne? (What's your name?, informal with emphasized "you")
Ad谋n谋z ne? (What's your name?, formal)
Sizin ad谋n谋z ne? (What's your name?, formal with emphasized "you")
Dialog (Frm.)
Ay艧e and John meets and greets each other. They ask each other for their names.
John: Affedersiniz. Ad谋n谋z ne?
Excuse me, Whats your name?
Ay艧e: Ad谋m Ay艧e, sizin ad谋n谋z ne?
My name is Ay艧e. What's your name?
John: Ad谋m John. Memnun oldum.
My name is John. Nice to meet you.
Ay艧e: Ben de memnun oldum.
Nice to meet you too.
If you say your name and ask for the other person's name, first you say yours. Then you ask to other person by using "senin ad谋n ne?" or "sizin ad谋n谋z ne?". You emphasize on "you" by doing this. If you did'nt say your name before asking others name, you should say only "ad谋n ne?" or "ad谋n谋z ne?"
Dialog (Inf.)
Ay艧e: Merhaba! Ben Ay艧e. Senin ad谋n ne?
Hello! I'm Ay艧e. What's your name?
John: Ad谋m John.
My name is John.
Ay艧e: Memnun oldum John.
Nice to meet you John.
John: Ben de memnun oldum Ay艧e.
Nice to meet you too Ay艧e
