Moving to Cologne

Post new topic

Hi!

I will be moving to Cologne on a company assignment starting in 2011. As I will be house hunting quite soon, I'd like some advice on the best areas to live. I am single so probably the suburbs are out of the question, but I'd rather not be right in the middle of the party either.

Someone at work suggested Agnesviertel ... any takes on it?

Thanks SO much in advance.

Hi, Maria!

I can't give you any information on the area you mentioned as I only moved to Cologne the end of July.  I can tell you that I live in Neuehrenfeld and find it's quiet enough to live comfortably but is still very close to anything I want to do in the city center.

Good luck!!

Hi,

You will get a good feel for the city by looking at e rent. there is an interactive map with information on the tram lines and journey times to the centre. There are also street videos similar to google street view.

Hope that helps.

Thank you Kevin and Wendy!!! I will be house hunting in Cologne from the 15th to the 21st of December, and your info will surely help.

I guess I just have to be ready to freeze to my bones while I walk around town ;)
