Dear All,
I am Yaw from Ghana and i have been offered a job in Dubai. These are the details:

Monthly   Basic Salary: 15.000,-   AED/month
Housing Allowance:   60.000,-  AED/year
Transport: transport   to and from  the site from  selected  pick up points  in Abu Dhabi
Medical  benefit  program  will  be provided  by the  company
Contract  period:   6 months  (with  an option  to be extended  on monthly   basis beyond  this period)
One return  second class ticket  on the  completion   of every year of continuing employment   (for employee,  spouse and children  (max 3, 18yrs  and younger))

Is this a good offer, will i be able to rent, feed my self and pay my bills and still save some money out of 5000AED during the month and have a standard life style whilel i save 15000AED back in my country?

Hi Yaw,

I can see that this is a project driven contract otherwise it will not be for 6 months to be renewed

Honestly speaking if you will be staying in abu dhabi and dubai, rents are quite high but i see that you are given additional housing allowance aed 60 k which should be fine for 1-2 bed room apt in selected locations

For the salary of 15 k, initial setup cost might be high in these2 cities hence i doubt you be able to save anything provided that you indicated the contract for 6 months only.

If you are not bringing ur family onboard, then you could share the accomodation with someone and share the rent

My opinion 15 k is good provided that you will not be doing the followups associated with electriciy, phone, looking for apt, buying furniture

Ask your employer if they could offer you a furnished apt and then it might be less of a burden and worth depending in what your standard of living means

Hope this clarifies

Priscilla

Hi Yaw,

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌà :)

I invite you to have a look at other topics on the Cost of living in Dubai section, it might help you.

Thanks

First thing - check regarding the company which gave you the offer, if genuine.  There is a bit of fraud going on there with job related scams.
'Second' class ticket?  That is kind of funny, and makes it suspicious.
