Driver's License Testing

Post new topic

Has anyone gone through the process of applying for a driver's license in Chile?  If so, do they require a vision test where one eye is covered to read a chart?  In other words, can one bad eye keep you from
getting a driver's license.  Have a valid license in the states but want to apply in Chile.  Thanks in advance.

My chilean friend had to get new glasses before they would renew her license. But I don't know about the test being with one eye or not but I'll ask her. But it is great that the test is available in English now! I think you should get a license when you have permanent residency but I don't have mine yet!

Thank you.  It seems to take a long time to get permanent residency and if that is required before a license can be issued and the stateside license will expire before then, what do people do?  Get an international license maybe?

LoriDor

It takes 1-2 yrs to get your permanent residency.
You can get an international drivers permit at the AAA or DMV but only if you have a valid drivers license and it only lasts one year.
You may be able to get a license here with a temp. Residency but IDK.
I would just renew your current license
