Internet Connection Speed in Vietnam as of November 2015?

Post new topic

How is the Internet connection in Vietnam as of November 2015? Last time I check there are constant connectivity issues along with unexpected power outage. Is this still the case? I am a full time teleworker and I really want to move back to Vietnam to work.

Saigon District 5, typical wireless at home. No black/brownouts in 7 months here.
Faster internet than I ever had in California or Queensland

Revolutionary

How much is that costing you a month?

Rev, I live in an apartment, one of 8 in the building, and the landlord is a middle man for utilities. That must be standard practice, or I would have to deal with utility company contracts and deposits and bureaucracy in Vietnamese. No thanks!
He charges me 150.000 VND monthly. That converts to US$6.72 today.

OTOH, my friend's family live in a house, their bill is only 220.000 VND. I have not run a speedtest there, tho.

Can you run a speed test for us? speedtest.net

Seriously? You don't see the image in my response above? Are you blocking images? Adblocker? It is not an ad, it is hosted at tinypic.
Let me read the image to you: 17M down, 16M up
View page source for the link.

I asked my friend who lives across the river, who I mentioned above,to run a speedtest. She has a different ISP service and the cheapest plan.

And let me read this one to you as well, sheesh:  11M down, 13M up

Thanks for sharing. The upload speed is nice there. May I ask who is your current service provider for your internet connection?

And one more. For fun I used the Hola VPN plugin in Chrome.
It connected to a server in Arizona.
14M up/15M down, but notice the slow ping because of the ocean cable.
Sometimes you might want to use VPN here, and sometimes it is unusably slow.
