I want to move from Australia to Philippines. I am thinking about the Visayas and I like Cebu. I want a place that is elevated and wont flood and also benefit from nice breezes and at the same time is close to the main stream city. My wife is from Davao but I don't want to live there. I am guessing it will take about 9-12 months to get organised and move. I will come there earlier to buy a property. I was in Cebu about 3 weeks ago but only for about 3 days and it was a busy time. I would appreciate any information I can get from people living there. Thank you for reading my post.

I would agree with the poster who said to listen to the locals versus the state department. I live in Anchorage Alaska population 250k + and Cebu City Pop 2 million +聽 last year there were more murders in Anchorage than Cebu despite the latter having 10脳 more population. The US government and press love to blow out of proportion incidents that happen overseas while downplaying the same issues occurring here. Also to the newbie if you are going to ask for advice you need to do so in a less defensive manner esp on this forum.
