Internet in Tamarin area

Hello,

I聽 know there are more threads about it, but couldn't find anything specific for this area.

We are thinking about coming over to Mauritius for 6 months for kitesurfing. I work online so I need reliable internet with a decent speed. We are looking into the Tamarin area.

What is the best option here? Having a DSL line or working with 3G or even better 4G? I know it's not cheap and fast but I'm used to pay per GB and don't need superspeeds. Just no days without internet and 8-10 mbps if possible? All advice is welcome and if anybody can tell me the actual DL speed, that would be great.

One more other question, we are thinking about buying a scooter but is it allowed to sit with 3 persons (2 adults and child) on it on Mauritius? And with that I mean if they fine you for doing it or if nobody stops you.

There should be fibre down there in Tamarin too.

The average, affordable internet speed is about 10MB/s and you can package it with television. Check out something called "MyT" from Orange.

Also, I'm not too sure Tamarin has good winds for kitesurfing (I may be hugely mistaken), but the South (or South East) may be a better option for that.

Apart from the huge safety risks of letting 3 people on a scooter (and especially your child), your main concern will be the other, rather rough, drivers in Mauritius. It most likely isn't allowed (my main reason being that it is a child AND a third person on a scooter meant for 1 - or max 2 - people).

May i suggest 4G router (for home) or Fiber to Home from Orange.
Also, get a 4G usb dongle for working on the beach.
