I heard that it can take up to 9 months for the renewal!
Whereas it takes 2 weeks in SA...

Yeah takes quite abit of time

My husband just submitted his renewal for his SA passport at the Embassy in Port Louis. They are the only SA representatives in Mauritius.

They told him it will take at least 6 months. The problem is that the mailbag is only send and received once a month between SA and MRU. So if you missed the mailbag, your application will wait for a month before being send to SA. The same for the passport back to MRU.

All applications need to be done on original forms, so you will have to go in and complete the forms there, or take them home to complete and go back to submit it. You will also need your parents details (ID Number, place of birth, date of marriage, etc).
