Traveling with pets

Hi there,

I am thinking of adopting a dog then traveling with it. Has anyone traveled with a pet? If so, what kind of problems can you encounter and what are the possible expenses there are before traveling?

I have never traveled with a pet but the problems arise are many.

Does your accommodation allow pets.
Vet expenses for vaccinations.
Do buses ,taxis or domestic airlines allow pets.

Difficult to travel overseas with pets. Some airlines do not allow this.
Need a pet transport company to do this.
Some countries quarantine pets for a specified time on arrival.
For overseas travel you have to have a pet 'passport' which shows all the required vaccinations.

You need to think of exercise areas for your dog and the local laws pertaining to this.
Will the dog be locked up whilst you are out.
