Frankly, the type of initiative you refer to is either absent or seen to be of little significance in Congo.
I see no evidence of programs of waste management or selective sorting, other than those that are practiced by international companies through their internal policies and procedures.
In addition to the lack of programs directed at sustainability of environment and energy use, there is significant evidence of continuing over-exploitation of natural resources, particularly of timber. A continual stream of trucks carrying immense trunks of rain-forest timber finds its way to the port in Pointe Noire, from where they are exported.
My own contribution to attempt to improve the environment is through employee education programs directed at informing people of the costs of environmental degradation and pollution, and the benefits of sustainable management of resources such as water.
