Maintaining a wooden floor

Hi,
Time for some stupid questions.
I am a boy living alone so I need some help with keeping the apartment nice and clean especially when my landlord really loves his wooden floor ! 
Quick question.
What is the best and easiest way to keep the floor clean and shiny?\
What stuff I need to buy? Where can I buy the stuff needed for cleaning the place?
Is there anyone I can hire to clean the place? If yes, then can you recommend anyone?
I have usually lived in apartments with carpets or hard tiles so they have been easier to manage but the wooden floors are more sensitive I am guessing.

It is funny that almost all the homes in Oslo have wooden floors and no one wants to admit that they dont know how to clean them properly!
