If able, seize the stock or goods in lieu.   Do NOT do it in person,
get a neutral third party.  Yes, collectors if necessary.

I used (big) friends 4 times.   Immediate payments twice, one goods.
(the other one skipped; never located)

Debt is owed on a house renovation project. No goods to seize. Debtor is wealthy with 2 houses valued at over 1 million USD. Reluctant to use "illegal" methods for fear of being in trouble with the authorities. Looking for some sort of legal method to get the money.

Most debt collection in VN is done by mafia or police.  The laws in VN are so weak that a debt collection company wouldn't work. If you have a contract with the client go and see a lawyer and try to deal through them. Good luck.

Your client is wealthy from not paying their debts it seems.

Scare tactic works best. Especially if they know you know where they live and if they have family and kids most likely they will pay.

If they are wealthy than I assume they want to save face. Warn him if he doesn't pay all his neighbours will know about it.

Too True!   ..even worse, (don't tell) just allow his family (esp.) children to find out from others

I have similar problem,  Have buyer in Ho Chi Minh and delaying payment for 6 months. Have any company or people who can help us recover the money.

Have coffee estate and 6 coffee shop.

Hire some labourer for cheap with a BIG SIGN, BUILT HOUSE AND OWES $$$$...see what the guy will do....lol...i'm pretty sure he will try to save his face from his rich neighbourhood...if cop comes...all the better...show the bill.

i have known lawyers to put caveats on property titles over unpaid debts, so when the client goes to sell the house they get a rude shock, it works but could take a while to them to pay.
