Have you tried meetup.com? We had a quick look around, and intend to join a few in the upcoming year. It's full of groups centered on various interests, including language exchange, photography, hiking, etc

My name is Phil.  I am Scottish.  I will be 60 later this year.  I live with my partner Sue in Cap d'Agde.  I have owned an apartment here for about 13 years but we moved out here to live permanently 2 years ago.

We are heading off next Monday (30 Jan) for nearly 3 weeks but would be happy to meet for a coffee or a pint.
