You can go to Fortune Tower complex (or Pantip Plaza) , In the top floors you've got a vast selection of shops with lots of options, and all the pirate software that you can imagine.

To name a price on an Hp computer ( currently i have 2 HP Pavilion Intel Quad Core Q9500) Around 22000 ThB. Without the screen. ( you can get also here razer periferics - high end Gaming devices)

With a 42 inch tv i think they were around the 20.000 thb. The sound system it varies but middle class round 7000 thb.

Just bring a nice laptop. Thailand has far too much to see and do. You will find yourself spending very little time wishing you were at home watching TV. And a laptop is something you can take with yo on holiday. And unless you are looking to spend a fortune, living spaces are much smaller.

Toshiba laptops are nearly indestructible. sent my swimming in a rain filled gutter back in the states, typing this to you on that same machine now. Left it sandwiched between two heating pads for 48 hours and it started right up.

Unless you are either a geek or you work with computers ( im both ) cant have just a laptop.

But days are for work and nights are for partee.

I have presently  HP Pavilion Media Center m8430f also an intel Quad with a 24 inch ACER screen. My kids have an Lap Top -I havent got used to using them yet and the screen is too small. Maybe I will change. Kent you hit the nail on the head regarding spending time watching way to much TV -hopefully I will watch less in Thailand. All the best guys.
