Following fashion in Saudi Arabia

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

Do you follow fashion trends in Saudi Arabia? Every country and every culture has its own dress code. As far as you are concerned, have you changed the way you dress?

Can one easily find fashion boutiques in Saudi Arabia? Are clothes expensive there? Or cheap?

What do Saudis usually wear or like to wear the most?

Share your experience!

Fashion designers are emerging from here while youngsters creatively copy latest Hollywood trends. I used to say "boys like to be tom cruise and girls wanna be angelina jolie".
Here are some articles published in local newspaper.

It changed a lot as I wear anything under my Abaya if going to the mall. Lots of clothes I do not use here only in my country.

Hi,

No, I have not changed my way of any dress code. However, being a women in Saudi they do follow a conservative dress code which is a good sign without any attraction from the opposite sex and thus avoids many bad manners caused due to indecent dress code.

I really appreciate the dress code in Saudi Arabia, which makes view of the world more gentle rather than any kind of vulgar or glamour.

I couldn't find myself in Thawb altogether! This doesn't mean I don't like them; it is just I am not my preference.

I've seen women's fashion change in the nine years that I have been living in Saudi Arabia.  Abayas in Jeddah have really changed.  The first few years only black abayas with maybe a little colored trim or embellishments could be found.  And It was impossible to find abayas made of cotton or linen.  Now women are wearing all colors and prints of abayas.  And the fabric choices include cottons and linens.  It's a really positive change.

Hi Priscilla,

Clothes in Saudi Arabia are very cheap and of good quality.

Most of the Saudi Nationals wear their traditional clothes but a very few young generation are dressed in jeans and t-shirts especially the bikers.  you see a lot of them in al khobar corniche during the weekends and its nice to see them with their stunts etc.

Do you live in Saudi Arabia and where? please let me know.

Hello Priscilla,

Here in Saudi Arabia, you are not allowed like other countries or your own countries to wear anything outside the home. I mean, here Abbaya is must for ladies irrespective of religion, race and nationality.
You have to cover your body especially shoulders to feet with one loose dress called Abbaya  in case of non muslim.

You can found lot of showrooms and boutiques for dresses ( good ones are very expensive) but ladies cannot wear such dresses outside the home. Abbaya is must for outside.

In short of you are fashion lover and love to wear fashionable dresses outside the home ... Saudi Arabia is for sure not good place for you.

Please google about Saudi Culture and law..

I hope I answered well.
