Chinese to USA university credit transfer

Post new topic

saramk

Hello,

I'm looking to study in China after spending some time there. I would like to attend university in Guangdong as I have connections there already. I hope to do direct enrollment to a university rather than a study abroad program because of the immense amount of money saved. I find it very difficult to get a direct answer on whether my credits will transfer back to US schools. If anyone has any feedback, advice, or knowledge about this topic or the Universities in Guangdong please let me know!
Thanks so much

JAYJEN

Hello

This is JayJen. I'm from Guangzhou, but am recently studying in college in U.S. I don't know if I can help you that. I have some friends who have studied in China as foreign students, and they told me about that. I don't really know your situation, but I guess it would be as same as their foreign students who study in other countries.
If you're an exchange student, you have an X2 Visa which is for short-term study, then you may need to apply for another Visa called X1 (long-term study). Students usually apply for the new school, and wait for the documents. After you receive the documents from new school, you can apply for a new Visa. Just go directly to the school website, and find the direct enroll. They will tell you all documents that you're required to give.
By the way, most credits cannot be transfer back to your home university. They don't really accept the credits from outside of the country. Like I had taken classes in my back home college, but I still needed to retake some classes in new college in U.S. which I already took in my home college. Most students would study until they get degree, instead of studying a few years and then come back. If you like to have different experience of living in abroad, you can study for 2 years.
I'm also an international student. I know how difficult to study abroad. But I believe you can overcome it.
Let me know if you still have questions.
I hope those information would help, and have great experience in China.
