Hi, my name is Katya and I'm living in Stavanger for a year. I recently applied for my work permit renewal 1 month in advance as it was said, but unfortunately the process went to UDI and got delayed. I am waiting for the new work permit for 2 months already. There was misunderstanding with the salary terms (UDI though I earned less than Norwegian min wadge because they looked for 10 months salary pay slip and not for a yearly one). So I was requested to clarify the issue which I did and they received my supportive docs and latest payslips 3 days ago, but I still didn't get any reply. My question is, has somebody been in the similar situation? I need to travel outside of Norway, can police give me a temporary document to use for entering back while my case is processing? Has anyone traveled without valid work permit but with a letter from UDI that your case is being processed?

Hi,
From my experience, you can鈥檛 leave Norway while your application is in process without a valid visa or permit. If your permit is already expired then you have to wait for your decision from UDI before traveling to another Schengen Countries.聽 You are legal in Norway while your application is in process.
I traveled without valid permit (application in process) and I was caught in another Schegen country and deported to Norway. My application was rejected in Norway and they deported me to my home country. They said I was not allowed to travel out of Norway while my application in process and also my application was rejected.
I advise you to call police and seek for an advice before making any step.
It takes UDI 5 working days before they added your documents to your file if you upload through (Application Portal). If you send it by post it will takes a bit of time. Therefore it is good to send documents through (Application Portal).
I have question for you. What is the min salary requirement from UDI?

How long it takes you before you got your first work permit?

Did you have an experience of this kind of message from UDI?

Hi,

I had this message. It just means that they didn't have time to look at your application yet, so nothing bad. I have applied for the first work permit a year ago and it took no longer than a week to get the reply (I think because it was done by police and was not sent to UDI). UDI gets more complicated cases and takes longer time to process.
