You can't circumvent them. Cartorio's will not process a uniao estavel without an apostilled, translated birth certificate - which must have be within what I think is 90 days also, not 120.

I just needed to type a letter of non marriage also, I didnt need a certificate stating I wasn't married.

Although it was a while ago, and I got married too so cannot remember 100%
