How to bring your car to Egypt

Post new topic

Bhavna

Hello everybody,

If you exported your car to Egypt, were there any formalities that needed to be completed beforehand? What were they?

What is the best way to export your car? Is there a limit on the number of vehicles, or perhaps the age of the vehicle? Are there limits on emissions or emission controls in Egypt?

What are the expected costs of exporting a car? In your opinion, is it worth it?

Once you arrived in Egypt, what were the applicable taxes? What was the customs process like?

How do you go about registering an imported car in Egypt?

Is it best to buy a car once you have arrived or to bring your car with you, in your opinion?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi,

It is not worth bringing your car to Egypt.
I tried all the possible options; the custom duties will make it exorbitant and the procedure is also cumbersome.
1. Customs fees will be almost the same value of the car.
2. The Owner must Have Egyptian Residence before shifting the Car to Egypt.
3. The Owner must own House In Egypt.(not sure if they meant rental lease or own house)

But since you can get a lot of automatic car options in Egypt, you can better buy/rent it locally or most expats will get a company car as a part of their package.

Well said Dammy, the Mafioso controlling the car industry don't want hundreds of thousands of Egyptian living abroad and in the Gulf area to bring their cars because it will affect their business!
