Well sure, his journey through Hungary starts 1mm over the border.聽

But more interestingly than the obvious, if he's transporting goods in his car or doing some sort of commercial transport with a vehicle plated for say, South Africa, I'm pretty sure he'll need to have his carnet stamped somewhere.聽

Been a while since I was planning anything like that but maybe they only stamp on the external borders with the EU now. So it depends which way is in or out - Serbia or Ukraine.

Like Sgt Szhultz, we know nothin'....all speculation.

Anyone have any idea on how much it costs (per km for example) to bring a non-running medium sized car (<1 tonne) on a car transporter say from near Miskolc to a few km west of Budapest?聽 聽

The distance is very approximately 250km (each way).

I charge 100ft/km for the round trip, which, as far as I can tell, is a typical rate :-)
A search for 'automentes' on Google or Facebook should turn up many local contractors who can quote you their price.

When moving to Hungary intially I already had in mind to take my car, please note I was close (Luxembourg), I just want put off by the hassle and I preferred just to sell it in Luxembourg and buy new in Hungary. I recall the time (and expenses) when I moved to the UK (when still part of Schengen), not anymore.
Now I move to Turkey (outside EU) I would not even consider bringing/regestring/,,,,

I would be surprised by exporting a car will be good financially, of course ther can be a very attachment though, but financially my view is no way,.

The UK has NEVER been part of the Schengen area.

UK allows LHD and it was easy relatively speaking to register them if they were EU type compliant.聽 Only minor changes were needed (if at all).聽 Might have changed post-Brexit.

There's a shortage of聽 cars at the moment with increasing prices of 2nd hand vehicles. Mainly caused by supply chain issues.聽

You might find it to you advantage to take your car with you especially if it's a late and low km model.
