Emeralds

I live in Bogota most of the time but return to the UK 4 or 5 times a year. I have heard that it is possible to buy Colombian emeralds here and sell them on in the UK at a good profit. Sounds great but does anybody know more about it?

What would you like to know? Just be very careful when dealing with someone in regards to emeralds, everyone will pretend to be your brother and sister to sell your emeralds. There's a TV show called Mine Hunters that fly to Bogota. Season 1, Episode 1.

It's a pretty good show. I think I bought it on Amazon or another streaming service.

I tried calling an old family friend that owns a jewelry store to see his thoughts on importing emeralds to the US. He hasn't called me back.

From what I've read, there's apparently no import duty on gems into the US?
