Recognition of foreign qualifications in Norway

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Were your professional qualifications recognised in Norway? What country did you complete your qualifications in? What profession are you in?

Did you have to go through any formalities to get your qualifications recognised, such as to have them translated?

If your qualifications weren't recognised, were there any additional tests or exams you had to complete before you were able to practice your profession in Norway or continue with your studies?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Coming from the Philippines, there are parts of Nursing education that they recognize. An example is one can right away seek authorization to be a helsfagarbeider/general health care worker, that can allow you to work in hospitals or nursing homes with a good salary right away (Of course as long as you speak the language).

As for trying to get the nursing authorization, the common assessment result that they give is that there are a missing 60 points when they compare the nursing education of the Philippines to Norway. This assessment was done to someone I know who has completed BS Nursing with a PRC license but without experience. The 60 points can be complete through their suggested courses.

I don't know if there is a difference if one has experience, I am currently waiting for my result (BS Nursing with PRC license and 1-year experience)

Also for this kind of authorization, they require a good command of the Norwegian language before you can continue to the needed courses, to fulfill the requirements in seeking Nursing authorization.

I have several ITEC certifications for beauty specialist and hair styling. However the ITEC Beauty Specialist is recognized in every country in Europe with exception to Norway. I keep hearing you have to have a nursing degree in addition to ITEC certification for Esthetician in Norway. (Esthetician includes: facials, medical grade peels, spa wraps, aroma therapy, waxing, electrolysis hair removal, lash perming, lash extensions, permanent make up, make up application, etc...)
if anyone knows anything different please fill me in. I was certified here in the United States and also hold licenses here in the United States for Cosmetologist and Esthetician in my state of Missouri. I completed 2200 hours plus of education. Sadly I have not done hair in years and I am having to go back to it as a second job. Just to make sure I have all my bases covered.
