Moved from rural to Nairobi-hoping to meet a friend or 2

Post new topic

RobininNairobi

Hi,

I just moved from rural Kenya to spend more time in Nairobi ... so now I just need a friend or 2! (less field work, more office time) What are the ways people meet new people these days? :) I have a great base of Kenyan friends and am hoping to hang out with people from my own background (grew up in Chicago) some more! Are there specific social gatherings that happen?

Thanks, Robin

Yud

Welcome on ½ûÂþÌìÌà Robin ;)

Why don't you organize an ½ûÂþÌìÌà meet-up in Nairobi :D. Just propose a convenient date and a proper location (it can be a food court, resto) and I am sure many members will respond positively. I think it can be a nice way of making friend & widen your social circle ;)

do people make 'fake friends'(online friends) they never meet believing that they have become big only to see that it's the world that has become smaller. the old way is the best way.:-) am goin back to afro and belly bottoms...how did it work though. cheers my 'friends'

Nairobi Expat Social arrange lots of events in/around Nairobi plus weekends away.  They do like to ensure that you are 'genuine' - not someone looking for an expat 'meal ticket', for example.  It can take a bit of time for them to get back to you though.

how can i prove not to be  -using your words- a "meal ticket"? i actually don't need to go on the gateaways i just want to make friends putting it delicately widen my social circles. ALEX

Most of us are not "meal ticket" but some are but what sort of 'screening' does one have to go through to prove they are in for the friendship and fun?cultural exchange etc..?
I organise fun stuff for my friend and sometimes we just need a new face or two or even a bigger funner crowd...
