In search of highschools in nairobi

Hi there...we are moving to nairobi from south africa in 4 months and is looking for highschools for my son 14 (grade 8 )and daughter 18 ( grade 12) next year with reasonable school fees. We are looking for a house in karen so will be nice if there are schools near. We also looking at homeschooling any advise on it will be great.

Hi, you can try nairobi academy in Karen, brookhouse  is very expensive

It depends whether you want your children to be educated under the Kenyan system or not.  The alternatives are British, or American curriculum schools, Under the Kenyan system your 14 year old would be in year 8 junior school and your daughter final year in senior school.  It may be a difficult transition for them, as certainly at the end of year 8, there are major exams (similar to Matric) and children spend years 7 & 8 working towards these.  Both may have to drop back a year in order to get used to the system, which is what we did with our granddaughter when she joined the Kenyan (from British) system.

As for British system schools in Karen, there is St Christophers, which has a good reputation:


American system - absolutely no idea about this one:
   

British system schools tend to follow the UK academic year, so start in September to July, with a long break in July/August.  American system might be similar. 

British/American system likely to be more expensive, than Kenyan system.

What school did you end up sending teens to? I reached out to W Nairobi for work and school for 1 of my teens. No such help. Please update how things turned out. I'm moving there with 14 and 16 yr old
