Hello there,

I moved to Cape Town from Scotland a few months ago with my boyfriend....I'm keen to meet up with folks and make some new friends here.  I enjoy socialising and some banter!  Give me a holler if you know of any good places to meet people or have just moved here too!

Hi Amy,

I've also just moved to Cape Town and am up for meeting new people! I'm Australian but have been living in London the past four years and have just moved down as my boyfriend is from here.

If you feel like going for a couple drinks let me know - my email is kate.blackwell@hotmail.com.

Hope you're settling in well.

Cheers,
Kate.

Hi all you Cape Town citizens and the future ones...

South Africa is  my list, and definitely the number 1 to move to.
My questions are concerning how to get the visa to move to South Africa, what's with the work visa's, and etc. All the necessary information one must have before being able to emigrate...:)

Citizen Erased

You can visit dha.gov.za. You can find all the information about types of visa, how to apply etc.

I moved here in July 2010. I was here on a visitor's visa for a month then I applied for an extension. I got 3 months to stay here so during those 3 months, I applied for a life partner permit with my BF who is a local South African. We've been together for 4 years so it was only natural for us to proceed to the next level. Applying for visa over here is pretty easy albeit some unfriendly officers :) Good luck, Jen-Jen!

Hi

Soon it will not be possible to change from a tourist visa to a permit wihtin South Africa. You can refer to my previous post: /forum/viewtopic.php?id=72018

You can have a look at the Home Affairs website to get an idea of what permits are available, but perhaps you would like to provide some more detail what your plans are, which will allow us to advise what is possible.

Hi. I live in Green Point, is originally from DK, finding it difficult to find friends who live in my area and whom I have personality and intrests in common with. It would be great to meet up and have coffee or do things.

Hello Charlotte,
what a good idea to reactivate this conversation. As I'm coming to CT in 2 months, I am really looking forward to meet people as soon as I arrive !
In the mean time, if some people are looking for a roomie, I am very interested too !
