The most important thing to know about Australia as a new Immigrant is a Term called "Lack of local experience" - when seeking a JOB. We come with Education, and years of experience, but when you arrive in Australia, (even with a PR VISA) - you start from scratch. Sure the experience is there, and your knowledge doesn't go to waste eventually, cause this is something you gained, but for the First job in Australia, all that vanishes, as you are now lacking local experience, and any other candidate will be chosen before you.

* TIP: The only way I managed to overcome it, even though I am an IT Manager with over 25 years of experience, was to create connections, network with people, get to know as many people as I can, meet recruiters face to face, until I managed to have a friend I met, recommend me as a candidate, and I got the chance to have an Interview and the rest is history. BUT, that took me 5 months, and I know of people that it might take them a year to find a job.  So, it's important to be aware, plan enough finances, to have enough to survive that long. Also, be prepared to do anything just to get local experience.

I investigated a lot about Australia before I came here, I collected information, resources, techniques. I have used Trello, to manage and track all the information I have collected -

Tips to consider to prepare:

* Learn all about your visa privileges
* Prepare financially (if you are alone if you are with family, tuitions, rent, etc...)
* Learn about your destination (which state you plan to live in, and its own rules)
* Learn about TFN (Taxation)
* Learn about your profession - and your profession market - demand, average salaries, etc...
* network, connect with people, use LinkedIn, facebook groups.
* Learn how to write proper CV and Cover Letter.

I believe those would be the basics - and even then, expect the unexpected, prepare for the worst scenario, and hope for the best.

Landing in a new country is a process, be patient, keep at it, never give up.

I'm applying some of these suggestions. But need good immigration agent, I plan to move to Queensland in 2-3 years after finishing my contract at KSA. I'm looking for a job in higher education or educational recruitment.
