Mauritius's most expensive cities

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

What are the most expensive cities to live in Mauritius? What are the costs of things such as rent, utilities, weekly groceries, dining out, etc.?

What is the lifestyle like in these cities, for expats and locals?

What are the different neighbourhoods like? Are there more affordable areas?

Do you have any experience living in any of Mauritius's most expensive cities? What was it like?

Which cities in Mauritius would you recommend? Are there any that offer particularly good value for money when it comes to cost of living?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Priscilla

It depends if one means property value because service delivery costs are quite low and fixed.

Rent variries. Moka, Grand Baie and Cure pipe will be the upper end.

However cannot generalise. It really depends on the development and it's reputation too

Berger Du Tombeau

I'd say Floreal, Black River, Tamarin and Grand Baie are among the most expensive areas on Mauritius.

Globera Properties Mauritius

In terms of rental, the following are the most expensive places in Mauritius:

- Beach-front properties
- Belle Vue Harel in Mapou
- Mont Piton
- Grand Bay / Pereybère/ Bain Boeuf/ Cap Malheureux/ Pointe aux Canonniers
- Mon Choisy/ Trou aux Biches/ Calodyne
- Ebène City/ Moka/ Sodnac/ Beau Bassin/ Floreal/ Pailles
- Black River/ Tamarin/ Flic en Flac
- Blue Bay
- Belle Mare/ Palmar/ Trou d'eau Douce

The rental fees depend on the condition of the property, whether it is modern or not, and the exact location.

I agree with the previous post:

Floreal, Tamarin and Grand Baie.

As a general rule of thumb, if the area is near the beach/tourist hot spot, cost of living will be higher.
