The online shopping is fairly limited in MNE, but is gaining popularity. I remember when I was looking for payment processors for e-commerce there were only 1-2 banks doing that last year, and even they had limited services available.

You will though that a lot of businesses are developing e-stores and it is increasingly becoming popular, albeit not as other countries.

You can have a look at for deals in MNE (like Groupon), which is one of my projects in MNE.

Did you manage to source your payment processor for e-commerce and if so what has the service and costs been like?

I have been trying to source a payment processor from the main International providers for about a year and have had no joy due to the fact that I live in France and Montenegro is not considered part of Europe.

I was looking for the means of accepting card payments from around the world for my rental property here in Montenegro.

I would greatly appreciate any information regarding the local providers, as I have had no help from the central bank.

Hi Eric,

Yes, my accountant/lawyer finally managed to obtain the merchant account with online gateway, although a lot of paperwork, business plan, and other documents were required.

You will need to have a company, business plan, previous e-commerce business history/experience and then some local connections to introduce you to the bankers (which can be your accountant/lawyer).

Also, do not expect it to be simple like EU countries, so there will be a few hundred euros setup fees, and some monthly fee in addition to 4-5% discount rate on cards.

I will be back in MNE next month for a few weeks, so if you are around, feel free to get in touch.

To advise you, I would need to know the number of properties, your volume, etc. If not a high number, partner with a local e-commerce portal or booking portal to process payments on your behalf. At eKupon.me we essentially do the same for our partners, but in a different way slightly.

Hello Priscilla, I used Aliexpress for buying some products. If you choose free shipping products, it will cost you only 1 euro. I buy many things on that site.
