Keeping in touch while living in Honduras

Post new topic

Hello everyone,

What are the best ways you've found for keeping in touch with friends and family back home while living in Honduras? How frequently do you stay in touch with loved ones?

Are there local equivalents to common instant messaging and online video calling services that you prefer or are more widely used?

If there is a sizeable time difference, how do you manage this?

Do you make international phone calls from a landline or mobile phone from Honduras? What do you think of the cost?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

We were there for two years. DWe used Skype when the person in the U.S. was hooked up. We had cheap Pre-paid Claro phones that worked well. We sometimes mailed letters. E-mail and FB we're good.

I’ve only been here a couple of months and have no problems calling the states. We use the app IMO which lets us video call, text, and do regular calls for free. I use TIGO on my phone from the states and it is reasonable priced. I don’t like the way internet on the phone works but living with it.  I have internet at home and work so it’s ok. What’s app is good to use also but IMO offers more.   Good luck.
