Going out in Nagoya

Post new topic

expat.com

Hi there,

Which are your 10 favorite places to go out in Nagoya?

Which places would you recommend to newcomers? (restaurants, pubs, discos, theaters, cinemas, concert halls...)

Thanks!

Soho

This site is really lame. Hard to know where to read the blog. Could I be the only member so far?

Soho

Soho, this is your alter-ego. You guessed it. Everyone left Dodge for the cattle roundup. Let's mosey on down to the saloon for some action.

Julien

You're not on a blog but on a portal dedicated to expatriates and their blogs.

According to you, how could we improve the website?

Soho

Look at the headline on this page--it asks people to list their favorite spots in Nagoya. That doesn't seem like a blog, but a bulletin board or an email list.

Julien

Yes you are on a message board, all the blogs about Nagoya are here: /en/directory/asia/japan/nagoya/

Hi, 'Outback stakehouse' in Sakae is a good one. They say Aussie style but they have good range of stakes, burgers, grilled ribs, salads, etc. Easy to find as well- just find a sign opposite side of the road of Maruzen bookstore.
If you want to go for sight-seeing, 'Nagoya Castle' is the 'must' place to go. But you also better not to miss going to the central Sakae to see the futuristic buildings around 'Oasis 21'. Nagoya is a very pleasant city to go anyway. They have delicious cuisine, too, from 'Miso-nikomi Udon Noodles' by 'Yamamoto-ya' to 'Hitsu-mabu-shi-grilled eel' by 'I-basyo'.

Oh do I name 10 places to go in Nagoya?
Well
No.1 Nagoya Castle
No.2 Oasis 21 in Sakae
No.3 Nagoya Aquarium and surrounding Nagoya Port
No.4 Nagashima Spa Land (near Nagoya)(They have massive rollercoaster named 'Steel Dragon'!!, and they have nice hot spring, too!)
No.5 Atsuta Shrine in Nagoya (Shinto-ism shrine) and delicious 'Hitsumabushi' grilled eel by 'Yo-ro ken' adjecent to Shrine
No.6 Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical garden in Nagoya (to see koala bears)
NO.7 Meiji-mura (near Nagoya by Meitetsu Line) 19th century buildings and retro style theme park
NO.8 Ise-shima National Park (near Nagoya) actually it is Mie but very beautiful including Mikimoto Pearl Island.
No.9 Ise Shrine and Okage-Yokocho (very nice samurai-like period street) in Mie
No.10 Nagoya Science Museum and Nagoya City Art Museum  (Sometimes they do have a nice exhibition- like VanGogh.)

sorry, it is a mixture with Nagoya and a part of Mie, but they are the same area and these recommended Mie area are unmissablly beautiful so it is worth visiting there.
