recommend an off-the-beaten-path cafe with a sea view

Do you have a favourite cafe with a sea view, that`s not in the tourist areas,
where you can kick back, read a book, look at the sea, nice n`easy?

Main island, or Gozo. Even on Comino, off season.

There are plenty of nice places to have coffee and relax on Gozo, on Comino there’s only one hotel and a few kiosks.

GozoMo: Anywhere on Gozo you particularly like?

GozoMo

We live in Victoria so normally go to St.Georges Square or Coffee Break which is opposite the bus station and occasionally go to Xlendi.Ìý The majority of Gozo is touristy, have you ever visited here?

andy5m

GozoMo: No, I haven`t. I live in Japan, but there is a fair chance I will
move with my family to Malta in the near future.

Was going to mention that but could not remember how to spell it!!!
Apparently much better now under different ownership.

My favourite is Hondoq on Gozo but only out of the main season

Thanks, Ray.

It`s great to get ideas from residents than from tourists,
and guidebooks; that`s why I value the opinion of the posters.

Anywhere on the main island, west coast?

Hope you are coming for a holiday before you decide to move here.

El Patron near the blue grotto. Fantastic views to Filfa when their roof is open. Really good food.

Can also recommend contacting

It’s a small Georgian style winery in the Siggiewi hills. He does food either in the vineyard or cellar. He is a French trained chef and the food is excellent. You book and on the day it will just be your party no one else.

Needs prior arrangement obviously but quite the experience.

You can also try Tal Petut in the 3 cities. Maltese food no menus eat what they have on the day. 4ish courses for iirc 30 a head. Fantastic. Be sure to be very hungry when you go. The starter is enough for a meal :)

Terrific, Volcane. Will try it out.

Off season there are a lot of quiet cafes, even in tourist spots with the advantage of WiFi in case you need a sunny place to workÌý :)Ìý

Sensi Lounge in Marsascala (St. Thomas Bay) is a perfect spot with sea view.
Chocafe' in SmartCity (Kalkara) has perfect views and good snacks/food
Dahlet Qorrot Beach in Gozo (kiosk is open sometimes - better you bring a ftira or pizza and a coffee from nearby Maxokk Bakery in NadurÌý :) )
Gnejna Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha, Armier Bay and Paradise Bay are surprisingly quiet during winter months (best on working days), kiosks are open and you will find plenty of space on the beaches.

Thanks for the detailed info., Matm
