As a resident of Lyon I will try to give mine!

How much does it cost to rent an apartment or a house in France? Depends on area! I have a house which I pay 1000€. It's a 2BD. That should get you a big appartment of 3BD or more! However, if you qualify for social assistance like many people in this city, you rent could go as low as 400€ for a 3BD apartment.

As a budget, I's say, 10-15€ per meter square of housing is the charge varying from area to area and how close you are to Transports.

How much does it cost to buy an apartment or a house in France? I've been seriously looking for a house to buy and i find prices ranging from 150,000.00€ to 300,000.00€. These are not luxury apartment and are between 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms.

How much do you pay on average for public transportation (bus, subway, train, tram, taxi)? 84€ per month per head. Within Lyon only, it's 64€ per month for a monthly ticket.

How much do you pay for basic food items such as rice, bread, and pasta? I dunno.

What is your monthly budget for groceries? I'll ask wifey.

How much does it cost to see a doctor/dentist/physician/specialist in France? 25€ to 50€.

How much do you pay for health insurance per month? NO idea. I don't see it in my bank. so I don't count it. I'll start this year.

How much does childcare cost on average per month? NO idea. No kids yet.

What is your child's schooling budget per month? 0.

How much does it cost to fill up your car’s fuel tank? 72€ Diesel

How much do you pay for electricity/gas/water etc., per month? 149€

How much do you pay for your internet and phone subscription? 37€internet phones 80€ per month. That's maybe because we keep calling abroad.

How much do you pay for your lunch pack on weekdays? 6€ subsidized price at work.

How much do you pay for an espresso coffee? Dunno.

How much do you pay for a cinema ticket? 14€ adult. May drop to 11€ at times.

How much does a gym membership cost in France? Chepaest is 22€ per month. A year about 280€ because of registration fee of 40€ non refundable.
