Visiting the Pyramids

Any tips from those of you who've been there? Do's and don'ts?

I went there with a guide which I'd recommend if you want to understand the context and history. Ranges between 60 and 90le to get into each pyramid compound. You can pay extra (30le) to go inside the large ones at Giza, which is cool but there's not a lot to see. It's worth going round the back area to get a good view of all of them for photos and to feel like you're in the desert :) plus you can ride a camel for a fee, quite expensive but fun (150le I think I paid for a 20 minute ride!)
You get the usual hassle to buy things there so keep your wallet hidden. Also if you go early in the morning it's less crowded and cooler temperature.
Hope that helps a bit!

Thanx, Ive been reading a bit about it on Google. Everyone seems to stress about people hassling you to buy. Going with my husband who is Egyptian, so not really that worried about getting the historical info. But I think I'll take your advice on the going early part, sounds better than walking around in the heat in such a crowded place.

Thanx again.

Well.. If you'll be goin somtime soon, be prepared that it's gonna be super super hot regardless whether you go in morning or not. We went there last winter and as early as 7:00 in the morning and inspite that my daughter couldn't bear the heat, the chaotic environment - we were back in less than an hour :/

One thing I'd advice you; get your car inside the pyramid area; traveling from one pyramid to another is an adventure in itself! Specially when you have a baby/toddler.

We were planning on only taking the stroller inside the pyramid area. But your idea sounds way better. Is there an extra charge for the car to enter the premises?

Hyboin

I dunno.. but even if there are any extra charge it's negligible compared to the hassle if we don't! :)

I've done it once and it is so much enough) the pyramids are amazing, especially thinking of the way how they were built. as for sellers and camel-riders - it is terrible. they screw up all the joy of sight-seeing. A yelling crowd tunning after you trying to sell you all the possible things in this world, and take a picture of you (even if you do not want), and then say that you owe them 20 $ for this picture. I recommend to go there and enjoy the views but do not talk to anybody, buy anything or go anywhere you are not sure about. your wallet hidden and a nice tour guide with yoг! despite of all the discofort there, it is so much worth seeing!!!
