Any Canadians Here? specifically from B.C. i have questions about MSP

does anyone know what happens to our MSP if we leave? I heard that we will no longer have coverage when we come back to visit unless we come back to Canada for a minimum of 6 months.

If we do leave for a couple of years, can we apply to get it back?

for those who have left and come back for a visit, do you get travel insurance for your stay in Canada and if so, do you get it from a Vietnamese company or Canadian company?

are there any other issues/rules/regulations you have had with MSP would be helpful for me to know?

As no Canadians seem to have replied:聽 This is second hand but a Canadian friend told me that medical coverage in Canada is based on residency rather than citizenship.聽 He told me the required time to reestablish residency but I don't recall what it was.聽 You may be correct about the 6 months.聽 Perhaps it would be wise to keep a "phantom" residency by maintaining a mailing address with relatives or others you can trust.聽 Then if you suddenly return, they will never know you were gone.
