Hello.

Excellent idea if you like beaches, fresh air and not too hot weather [PP is about 4C warmer than here].

Find a place to rent through one of the real estate agents, or search here in the housing section.

You will get negative feedback about the influx of Chinese. Indeed there is a boom in building casinos and hotels, mainly by Chinese investors, they bring their own staff because of language and the Chinese tourists are the largest group of international tourists.
The casinos are mainly in one part of the city, the rest of the city is unchanged, many beaches, the islands off the coast [1 h by boat].

The international airport connects with direct flights to Malaysia, Vietnam and China, and a domestic flight to Siem reap.

I would say come over and have a look yourself, I guess you will love it here.

Cheers.

Adding that you come in on a Ordinary visa [E], valid for thirty days, as soon as you arrive in Sihanoukville go to one of the two agents that take care of your extension of stay based on retirement. If you're 55 or over no docs needed. Just a photo and about $290 for a year extension of stay.

Cheers.

Michael, I’ve spent time in Sihanoukville over several visits during the last few years and believe it will be a good alternative for you over Phnom Penh. Give it a test run! As with any location, there are upsides and downsides yet a prudent person knows how to manage each with a bit of reading, talking to others and deploying common sense cautiousness. I like that much economic activity is occurring in Sihanoukville too and expect the Chinese disruptions in the marketplace will stabilize shortly. I’m currently in VietNam and intend to visit Cambodia yet again. It has a tremendous draw on me, especially the beach and the nearby islands. Best of luck to you.

There is Life University and Build Bright University. Then there is a faculty of management from Life University, a foreign language faculty of Build Bright university.

Cheers.
