Empoyee negligence lost company's property

Hi everyone! I need some advise on what to do regarding with my friend's situation who accidentally lost a company's property that he's handling while on duty (currently working in Riyadh KSA).聽聽 He is afraid that the company that he's working with might obliged him to pay for the items that he lost and might not allow him to go on ginal exit this coming July of 2018 (end of contract) his monthly salary is 1500 SAR which is not enough for him to pay for the items that he accidentaly lost and his contract is about to end. Please give us some advise on what my friend needs to do. Thanks a lot!

I would advise him to approach the company to try to negotiate the matter.聽

Yes, paying for it might be a pain but alternatively, he doesn't want to be accused of stealing it and facing much worse consequences.

Ask him to inform about this first to a person he trusts can help him with or at least has soft corner for him. Otherwise, if the company employees are decent he can reach out the direct supervisor.
