Hello everyone, I'm Kate
I'm planning on going to Tunis, Tunisia to see my boyfriend in June. We are planning on getting married and I'm hoping to stay with him until he can come back to the U.S. with me. We have run into a problem (there are many but this is one I'm hoping for advice on) I am on a number of medications and when my boyfriend checked with doctors there, they told him they don't have them because their medicines come from France. Does anybody know how to find the French equivalents to American medications? I have a neurological disorder and could have serious problems without my medications. Thank you for your help!

Indeed, Tunisian pharmacies buy their med from France but it doesn’t matter
Any doctor could find the molecule structure of an American medecine
It will be called another name but will have the same molecule..
So ur safe...

I encountered the same problem and got fixed by an intelligent doctor or an intelligent pharmacist

On a serious note
If u don’t have a study income to prove to the American embassy that ur future husband will be seeking an emigrant visa
Ur chances are very slim

If u do.  The wait is between 1-2 years

Sorry I had to tell u....
Good luck

Thank you! I do have a steady income both from a trust fund and a job.  How much do I need to bring in to show I can support him? If it's not enough, I can simply make a visit in June, with my trust fund and working income, I'll apply for a fiance visa. Either way we are expecting a long delay in getting him here. He is more than willing for me to stay in Tunisia, so if I can't get him here, we'll live there. It seems from what I've learned on here, that It's a pleasant place to live, and I could live on my unearned income. My boyfriend has a job there. Maybe that's a better route. It's so hard to get someone to the U.S. I will visit before we make a final decision. Any further advice is more than welcome.

Thank you. Having my boyfriend check was an unnecessary mistake. I'm fairly sure what I was asking him to find out got lost in the translation from English to French. He's an amazing man, but can't do everything for me. :)

U need about $1500/month
That gives u 4500 Tunisian dinars
I doubt ur fiancé makes near that
Lady
I am not discouraging.  But ur embarking on a tough road ahead
Good luck

4500 for what to live in tunisia if so thats not true . if usa i dont knoe but spouse visa in uk is 18600 im sure usa has its own policys and the lady said she has money

I'm not sure why it matters what he makes. I was explaining that I get enough money to live in Tunisia, but perhaps not to bring him to the US. He supports himself, so as long as I have enough to support myself, I don't see why we wouldn't be ok in Tunis.

exactly how a question on medication turns into money and visas is beyond me. enjoy Tunis is a great place

You can take your medication to the pharmacy and they will give you the equivalent here and it will cost you a fraction of the price.

You don't need s lot of money here. Shop for fruit etc in the souq and you will see how cheap it is. I own my house but I basically average tnd250 a month and that includes feeding two big dogs.

Hi
Please tell me would it be easy to by an apartment over here I am here on holiday. And I have been 3 times last ear and here now coming back in August

It depends where you want to buy. Prices are climbing and not all are well built. I suggest that you just rent for your visits. Remember that you can't take dinar out of the country so if you sell the floos stays here

It can be difficult to buy you can definitely get ripped off and there are lots of hidden costs that should be factored in. Having an advocate do it for you is no absolute for success.

Thank you! I've heard doctors and pharmacies aren't very expensive. That eases my mind a bit.

Yes, that is a completely different category of discussion. But thank you for the advice and hopeful answers.
