English is very important here especially at the Gymnasium level. There is also enough tutoring (Nachhilfe) to go around if private tutoring would bridge the gap while you take the nessecary exams.
There are often positions for english native speakers available in the public school system. Depending on funding/etc... You would work with each class at one school or be shared between a few schools.

True, the only Celta course in Austria is available at BFI college in Schlachthausgasse Vienna, round the corner from the underground. You should be fluent in German if you wish to teach German speakers English, and jobs are only freely available in the major towns or cities, or at language schools. There are international schools as well in Bavaria south of Munich, and St Gilgen just outside Salzburg in the Salzkammergut lake district. Vienna too has international schools with the UN being also based there, as well as many foreign embassies. Good luck! Courses are regularly run, and can be viewed/booked online via BFI. Rod Moore

Second, if you choose to teach adults in a school(s) or private you need to have an extensive teaching career behind you, as the at present it's saturated.
