New Zealand's Low Salaries

Post new topic

KwaggaRSA

From what I can tell from Seek and the like, salaries in New Zealand seem to be very poor. Certainly lower than in Australia and South Africa. I am looking in the management and marketing spaces. Perhaps it is different in other industries.

What has your experience been? Have you found this to be the case?

That's correct to a certain extent. This is one of the reasons why people look forward to relocating from NZ to another country. Marketing, Sales, Management where there are not MUCH efforts to do are usually occupied by the locals, however, the other sectors, mainly Engineering, Technical trades, medical and similar fields are those where the skilled workforce doesn't exist. Hence, for these sectors, the pay rates are very nice and can expect on an average of $120K - $140K annum or may be even higher in some cases.

Thanks for your input, Schaz.

NZ$140k per annum is a low salary for anything below mid-level management.

You got my point correct. That's an average.
