Adopting children in thailand

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Could you please offer a bit more information so that members can understand what it is you are seeking and perhaps offer information and advice.

Ok my thai girlfriend  and I live in Australia and are trying to get her great niece to come over and live so far she has been on holiday visas for 3 months terms. Thai lawyer say  that we need to marry in order for the adoption process to be acknowledged. As they don't understand  defacto relationship..

Thanks

MisterStretch

I'd say that is true, otherwise your gf is going to have to adopt the niece.  While there are many Thais who are married, in the legal sense, they are both Thai - and that is all the difference.

Isn't there a guardianship option you can pursue?  Adoption can be a costly process, whereas if your significant other is a blood relative, you might try to establish her as the guardian.
