Can English speakers find work in Madrid?

Carli692

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice please? My partner is moving to Madrid from where we live now in England for work. I would very much like to go with him but I have many concerns, my biggest being I do not speak a word of Spanish. I would look to learn whilst living there of course. My partner seems to think it’s possible for me to find work whilst learning, but of course it will be a while before I can communicate well enough to be understood. Any advice on this subject would be great, as well as others experiences.

Thankyou
Carly

I believe you can get better responses if you post this on the relevant country forum (Spain).
In any case, more important than English are your Spanish language skills, so don't expect the job search to be easy or quick!

Depends on what skills you have to offer.

At the moment I am a self employed nail tech and beauty therapist, I have also worked in admin and customer service in the past.

Hi beppi, is that not what I have done? Sorry this is my first post so all a little confusing. At the top it does say I have posted in the Spain  forum?

It has been moved there since I posted my above reply.

Maybe you will not be able to find similar sort of work in Spain without language skills. You will need to interact with customers in all four areas of your experience, most of which will obviously be Spanish.
When I done a search I did find a surprising number of vacancies that were asking for English speakers, but they are in fields like IT work etc.
