Kitchener-Waterloo (Ontario) - Young professionals

Where do tech professionals working in Kitchener-Waterloo (Ontario) typically live?

I’m contemplating a job offer in the Kitchener - Waterloo (KW) area, but, have apprehensions of it being more of a university/college town. I’m looking for recommendations to facilitate a probable move. A few points I’d want to factor in-

(i) Considering I’m moving from a large city (not inclined towards a suburban life), and, I’ll be new to Canada, I’d like to have access to a fairly active social life and a demographic that is widely younger working professionals

(ii) Is a daily commute from Toronto to KW even feasible?

Many thanks!

those who work in KW most often live in KW. KW has three nightlife cultures - student, hipster and nerd.  it is a young town so there are lots of young people around and if you suit one of the three cultures, you'd be alright, especially if you lived in downtown Kitchener. that said, coming from a big city, even downtown Kitchener would seem small. commuting from Toronto to KW is doable. commuting by car can be a nightmare. commuting by car is about 60 mins but as there is only one highway and if there is an accident you could be on the road for half a day. the buses/trains from Toronto to KW do take a while (60-120 mins).
