The nightlife scene in Canada

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello,

Having access to a good nightlife scene can be a determining factor for many expats upon choosing their next destination. Tell us more about the nightlife in Canada.

In Canada, what is the nighlife culture like: is it common for people to go out at night? Is there a big difference between the nightlife during the weekdays and weekends?

What are the most popular evening or nighttime activities (e.g. bars, nightclubs, shows, cultural activities, etc.)?

Is it safe to venture out in the evening and at night in Canada?

Is there anything in particular that surprised you about the nightlife in Canada?

Are there any apps or websites (or any other resources) that would help in staying informed about evening and nighttime activities?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Canada is multi-cultural and HUGE.  So asking what the nightlife scene in Canada is like asking what the nightlife scene is here is analogous to asking what the nightlife scene is in Asia.

Most of Canada was settled by the English, during the Puritan and then the Victorian eras. So nightlife, if any, closed down early.  Still does in most of country..though this is changing rapidly.  Quebec is gallic and different. Montreal is noted as having more festivals than any other place in the world. Legendary party town. Even Ottawa residents will dine and party in Hull/Gatineau, across the river in Quebec.

The world class nightlife is found in the major cities of (from east to west) Quebec City, Montreal and Toronto. The Vancouver nightlife scene has improved immensely in the last decade.
